Arsenal have ‘been making inroads’ on a potential deal for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old in recent months and could become one of the latest additions to Mikel Arteta’s ongoing revolution at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal transfer news – Evan Ndicka

Italian outlet Il Romanista has claimed that Ndicka has ‘already reached an agreement’ with Arsenal after entering the final seven months of his existing contract at Frankfurt.

The Evening Standard previously revealed that the former France Under-21 international has emerged as a target for Arteta after he failed to lure Lisandro Martinez to the club over the summer.

And Jeunes Footeux also stated that West Ham United, Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla are amongst Ndicka’s admirers after a €15 million (£13m) price tag was placed on him.

However, it seems as though Arsenal have won the race for the towering centre-back’s signature ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

Ndicka’s next move is yet to be officially confirmed. Nevertheless, the signs are looking positive that the capital club have secured some cover and competition for Gabriel.

What has Jones said about Ndicka?

Jones has disclosed that Arsenal have been making progress in their pursuit of Ndicka and that they’ve had to remain patient as Frankfurt were ‘trying to convince him’ to put pen to paper on fresh terms.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “They’ve been making inroads on this one for some time.

“They've really had to wait and hope that he didn't sign a new deal with Frankfurt; I think they were trying to convince him to do that.”

Would Ndicka be a good signing?

Ndicka has established himself as one of the most promising central defenders in the Bundesliga since arriving at the Deutsche Bank Park from Auxerre back in 2018, registering 10 goals and 10 assists in 162 appearances.

As per WhoScored, the 6 foot 4 ace has also won 2.5 aerial duels, made 5.3 clearances, and 0.7 blocks on average per league game this season, bettering the totals of his teammates in each metric.

And Ndicka being left-footed is believed to be one of the main reasons why Arteta is targeting him for Arsenal.

The addition of Ndicka could prove to be another exciting acquisition for the north London outfit who are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table at present.
