Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has been one of the standout performers at the 2022 World Cup, but was relegated to the supporting cast as his young son brilliantly upstaged him in an interview.

The Sevilla shot-stopper - affectionately known as 'Bono' - has greatly enhanced his reputation while in Qatar.

After keeping no less than four consecutive clean sheets in Morocco's remarkable journey to the tournament semi-finals, Bounou finds himself a man in demand.

The last of those clean sheets came against Portugal in a 1-0 quarter-final win. Having managed to keep the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo quiet, it's no surprise that the world's media wanted to grab a few moments with the Moroccan goalkeeper after the match.

However, while fans around the globe celebrated Morocco's triumph, Bounou's son seemed blissfully unaware of the magnitude of what his dad had just achieved when he accompanied him to a post-match interview.

Bounou carried the youngster in his arms as he spoke to members of the press about his country's landmark win and progression to the semi-finals.

While most of those in attendance hung on Bounou's every word, his son didn't appear in the slightest bit bothered.

In fact, the youngster was soon far more interested in the giant microphone that his father was speaking into.

It quickly became clear why. He thought it was a massive ice cream!

The curious lad first gave the microphone a poke before diving back in seconds later to lick it as though it was ice cream.

Both father and son laughter laughed as he did so in an adorable moment, with the interviewer also chuckling to himself for good measure.

Not to be denied, Bounou Jr was back for another go at the microphone seconds later, prompting his grinning father to gently squeeze his cheeks and whisper "no" to his son.

The 2022 World Cup has given us plenty of memorable moments, but this might just have been one of the most wholesome.

Morocco's dream of lifting the World Cup is over after they were defeated 2-0 by France in Wednesday's semi-final.

However, the first African nation to reach the World Cup semi-finals can still make another little bit of history in Qatar should they beat Croatia in Saturday's third-place play-off match.
