Manchester City could win the race for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham thanks to the Etihad Stadium 'blueprint' set out by boss Pep Guardiola, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

After committing his future to the Citizens by penning a new two-year contract last month, Guardiola will have the opportunity to bolster his squad next month and during the summer transfer window.

Man City transfer news - Jude Bellingham

According to 90min, Manchester City have drawn up transfer plans which involve adding Bellingham to the squad.

The report suggests the England international is considering his options and the reigning Premier League champions feel the prospect of working with Guardiola, along with former Dortmund teammate Erling Haaland, could be key in luring him to the Etihad Stadium.

Dortmund are hoping to end uncertainty over Bellingham's future by holding talks over his plans amid additional interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.

The central midfielder is currently valued at close to £131million, meaning Manchester City will have to shatter the British transfer record if they want to get a deal over the line.

Jones has previously told GiveMeSport that Guardiola's contract extension could result in Bellingham being brought in during the next phase of rebuilding his squad.

What has Dean Jones said about Bellingham?

Jones believes that Manchester City will not have any problems attempting to persuade Bellingham to join them over other suitors.

The journalist feels the amount of trophies the club have won in recent years would be enough to turn the teenager's head.

Jones reckons Guardiola's plans, having committed his future to the Citizens, could also play into their hands when it comes to targeting players of Bellingham's calibre.

He told GiveMeSport: "Not only do they have the trophy cabinet to show him from the past few years, but they can also run him through the blueprint that Pep is setting out as he redefines the team under this agreement that he signed to extend his contract until 2025."

Would Bellingham be a good signing for Man City?

Bellingham showcased his quality when competing at the World Cup for England and his performances have not gone unnoticed.

According to Sofascore, the 19-year-old averaged 3.2 tackles, one interception and as many shots per outing in Qatar, emphasising that he contributes in all areas of the pitch.

Having scored in the group stage opener against Iran, Bellingham went on to gain a 7.58 rating from WhoScored, with Bukayo Saka being his only teammate to secure a better grading.

But the former Birmingham City man had already demonstrated that he has a bright future ahead of him before even heading to Qatar, with Real Madrid defender David Alaba suggesting he is 'one of the greatest midfield talents in the world'.

There is no doubt that Bellingham, who has scored nine Dortmund goals this season, including one against Manchester City, would be an eye-catching signing.
