Bill Goldberg is seemingly defying the laws of ageing, with the 55-year-old uploading a recent picture on his Instagram where he looks just as jacked as he did in 1998.

Goldberg has not appeared on WWE television since losing to current World Heavyweight Champion and Universal Champion Roman Reigns at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in February 2022.

Although some wondered whether we might see Goldberg on our TV screens again, the recent picture uploaded to Instagram has fuelled rumours that a return to WWE could be sooner than fans first thought.

The career of Bill Goldberg

Goldberg made his debut for WWE’s rival WCW in 1996. During his first eight-year stint as a wrestler, where he claimed the WCW World Heavyweight title, Goldberg was viewed as a man mountain. His jacked physique and powerful finishing moves made him a revered competitor.

After a lengthy 12-year absence between 2004 and 2016, Goldberg returned to television screens with a feud with Brock Lesnar.

Despite being 49 on his return to the company, Goldberg was still just as built as he was back in 1998.

Now 55, one might have thought age would start to take its course, but Goldberg has continued to age like fine wine.

This recent picture is just a week old and shows that Goldberg has just as good a physique as he did nearly 24 years ago. The hair may be going grey, but he does not look like he has missed a beat.

What is Goldberg's future with WWE?

The photo has added to the speculation that Goldberg might be returning in 2023 for more matches.

Last week, GiveMeSport reported Goldberg had not retired from wrestling just yet, despite now being 55.

“My days aren’t done yet,” he said. “My days may be numbered, but my days are not over with yet.”

And Xero News seemed to confirm Goldberg’s return to the company last week, reporting that the star had put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

The contract is a five-fight deal, with Goldberg mainly set to wrestle at WrestleMania and in upcoming WWE events in Saudi Arabia.

Fans will also get the chance to see him take on new opponents instead of reigniting old rivalries, with Xero News reporting he is set to face off against “younger talent.”

While he certainly looks in shape to compete at the top level, we will have to wait and see if Goldberg’s body can take the punishment of wrestling matches in the new year.
