Wolverhampton Wanderers need to be cautious over how Sevilla midfielder Isco would fit in at Molineux amid links to a move for the Spaniard in January, transfer insider Dean Jones has suggested to GiveMeSport.

The former Real Madrid star has been linked with a move to Julen Lopetegui’s side in the new year.

Wolves transfer news – Isco

According to AS, Lopetegui has requested Fosun to make a move for Isco in the January transfer window, having managed the midfielder during spells at both Real Madrid and Sevilla.

The same publication has suggested that the former Spain international would be delighted to link up with his former manager at Molineux.

The midfielder, who is valued at around £8m by Transfermarkt, has 18 months left on his contract, worth around £42k-per-week, at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium suggesting that whilst the La Liga club will be under no pressure to sell, the club may look to cash in on the 30-year-old in January.

Jones has previously hinted to GiveMeSport that the West Midlands outfit will be able to attract a higher calibre of player to the club with Lopetegui at the helm, a category in which the experienced midfielder fits into.

But the transfer insider is unconvinced that Wolves’ signing of Isco would be the right addition to make at Molineux this winter.

What has Jones said about Wolves and Isco?

When asked about whether Isco would be a good signing for Wolves, Jones told GiveMeSport: “It's been some time now since Isco was playing at his best level and with that in mind, I think Wolves will need to be cautious over how he fits in here and why he is even available right now."

Would Isco be a good signing for Wolves?

Despite being relatively well-stocked in the middle of the park with players such as Rúben Neves, Matheus Nunes and João Moutinho, there is no doubt that the West Midlands side could do with an added spark of creativity, something which Isco could provide.

The Benalmádena-born star, who has been previously been described as "sensational" by Lopetegui, has made 19 appearances for Sevilla so far this season, providing an unremarkable one goal and three assists according to Transfermarkt, suggesting that he is currently unable to reach the levels he once did during his time at the Bernabéu.

The former Malaga star’s time at Real Madrid proved to be a resounding success, making 353 appearances for the Spanish giants and scoring 53 goals and providing 56 assists in that time according to Transfermarkt.

He also managed to help the side win three La Liga titles and earned himself five Champions League winners medals in the process, making him one of the club’s most decorated players.

However, with Isco seemingly struggling to recapture that form in Seville this season, a potential transfer to Molineux may not be a guaranteed success for both the club and the midfielder.
