Paddy Pimblett must "try to forget" about other people's opinions following his controversial win over Jared Gordon at UFC 282.

That's according to UFC Hall of Famer and two-time champion of the world Georges St-Pierre.

The Brit was surprisingly given the nod against American Gordon - despite repeatedly being cracked in the face multiple times in particular in the first couple of rounds - on December 10.

All three judges scored the fight 29-28 in his favour - but many felt the decision should have gone the other way.

Now, former middleweight and welterweight king St-Pierre has offered up some advice to 'The Baddy'.

He believes Pimblett should only worry about what he can control, rather than focusing on everything else.

"Well, fighting is a very subjective thing," he exclusively told GIVEMESPORT.com.

"It's not like a race, for example, where we clearly know who won because we have the evidence.

"Fighting is very subjective. That's why sometimes it leads to different opinions on the matter and sometimes there are things that affect your opinion or your judgement like a commentator for example or the other people around you what they are saying. Or, you know, your heart is with that someone so you have the tendency to watch for that guy more than the other guy to put yourself more into that guy's shoes.

"So what I can say is control what you can control and try to forget what people think. I know it's very hard as a fighter because we care so much. We have so much pride to show the world.

"But that's the hardest thing. You need to focus on only the thing that you can control. You have the power to only change the thing that you have control over. The other things that you don't have any control over, you shouldn't waste your energy on these things."

In other news, it recently transpired that St-Pierre is officially a free agent as he is no longer under contract with the UFC.

However, he insists he doesn't have much interest in competing anymore, despite the fact he continues to train pretty much every day in his spare time.

"My days of trying to show the world that I'm the strongest man are over," he added.

"It's hard to admit but sometimes I'm under the impression that maybe even though my knowledge keeps increasing maybe my best days as a competitor are behind me.

"I'm still doing very well in training and stuff, you know, I'm in shape, but the truth is that i don't have the itch anymore.

"To compete you need to be willing to make all the sacrifice to dedicate yourself 100 per cent and I don't want to do that.

"I have other more important things in my life to take care of."
