Wolverhampton Wanderers could land Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka after Matheus Cunha's expected arrival at Molineux, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui is closing in on his first signing, and Jones thinks Wan-Bissaka could be his second addition.

Wolves transfer news - Aaron Wan-Bissaka

According to BBC Sport, Lopetegui is looking to bring in up to six new faces next month when the transfer window opens, including Wan-Bissaka and Cunha.

The latter is Molineux-bound, with Sky Sports reporting that Wolves have agreed a loan deal with Atletico Madrid, and it appears that the former could be heading there as well.

The United right-back has seen little action under Erik ten Hag this season, making just one Premier League appearance so far, as per Transfermarkt.

An Old Trafford exit now looks inevitable for Wan-Bissaka, who is currently earning £90,000 a week, according Spotrac.

What has Dean Jones said about Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Wolves?

Jones thinks Wan-Bissaka could be the next player who Wolves try and bring in.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "Cunha is the first step towards the six players they want in, and I think the Wan-Bissaka talk should be taken seriously - he could be one that comes in after Cunha. United are open to it and have spent too long waiting for an offer from [Crystal] Palace to land."

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's last transfer fee

United paid £50m to sign Wan-Bissaka from Palace back in 2019, as reported by BBC Sport.

It is a lot of money, but the 25-year-old is a good defender, even if he is not playing right now.

As per FBref, Wan-Bissaka has ranked in the 97th percentile for tackles and the 99th for interceptions among full-backs over the last year.

“He’s an incredible athlete - that was apparent as soon as he came to train with the first team - and was the only player I’d seen who could consistently beat Wilfried Zaha in a one-on-one," former Palace coach Scott Guyett was quoted as saying by GOAL after the player's move to Old Trafford.

"He’s quick, I wouldn’t say lightning, but is also very powerful, agile and has exceptional timing.”

Ultimately, if Lopetegui wants to sign a defensively solid right-back next month, then he probably will not find a better candidate than Wan-Bissaka. And with Wolves currently at the bottom of the Premier League table, the Midlands club need all the help they can get.
