The UFC (or Ultimate Fighting Championship) is the most popular MMA promotion in the world.

Much like WWE is the flagship of pro wrestling, the UFC is the same for mixed martial arts.

Established in 2018, Karate Combat prides itself on being the world's first professional full-contact karate league.

And while it's not technically a MMA promotion, it has adopted a similar ruleset to the rest of its competitors.

2. Eternal MMA

Based out of Queensland in Australia, Eternal MMA was founded by Cam O'Neill in 2012.

Now in its tenth year of existence, it counts Casey O'Neill and Jack Della Maddalena as two of its finest exports.

Current stars include Rod Costa, Blake Donnelly, David Martinez and Justin van Heerden.

3. RIZIN FF

RIZIN FF, or to give it its full name 'RIZIN Fighting Federation', is a MMA promotion based in Japan.

RIZIN president Nobuyuki Sakakibara is also happy to work with other promotions having recently collaborated with Strikeforce founder Scott Coker for Bellator vs RIZIN on New Years Eve.

4. PFL

The Professional Fighters League, aka PFL, was established by Dom Davis in 2017.

As the name suggests, its tournament-style format sets it apart from the rest.

Apart from that it follows the same rules as everyone else although the use of elbows is strictly prohibited.

5. KSW

Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki, better known by its initials KSW, is one of the leading MMA promotions in Europe.

Its very name literally translates to 'Martial Arts Confrontation'.

6. Bellator MMA

Bellator was founded in 2008 by Bjorn Rebney, the former business partner of boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard, as Bellator Fighting Championships.

CBS Sports currently airs its fights in the United States.

ONE Championship - formerly known as ONE Fighting Championship - boldly describes itself as 'The Home of Martial Arts'.

Co-founded in 2011 by Singapore entrepreneur Chatri Sityodtong, it aims to host its first event in the United States later this year.

Fans will also be delighted to know that they recently signed a deal with Amazon Prime so you can watch the event live on the streaming service.
