Leeds United could “accelerate” their pursuit of Club Brugge and Netherlands international Noa Lang at Elland Road should Everton make a move for the winger, transfer insider Dean Jones has suggested to GiveMeSport.

The Dutchman has been linked with a move to Jesse Marsch’s side ahead of the January transfer window.

Leeds transfer news – Noa Lang

According to Voetbal Nieuws in Belgium, Lang is one of several players that Brugge fear they could lose in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Voetbal24 confirm that there is genuine interest in a move for the 36-goal from the Whites as the Premier League side look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the second half of the campaign.

Jones has previously told GiveMeSport that it would be a “big blow” if the Yorkshire side were to lose out on the services of the Netherlands winger during the January transfer market, whilst Fabrizio Romano has revealed in his CaughtOffside column that it will take between £26m and £30m to buy the 23-year-old this winter.

And Jones believes that Leeds will ramp their interest in Lang up if they feel that another Premier League club such as Everton could swoop him away from under their nose.

What has Jones said about Lang and Leeds?

When asked how Leeds would react if Everton made the first move in a deal for Lang, Jones told GiveMeSport: “If they started to think that things were leaning that way, I think they would probably try to accelerate things from their side.

“At the moment, we don't really know how it's going to open up. We know that Noa Lang has ambitions to play in the Premier League.

“His eyes and ears are open to when that can happen. It doesn't seem clear if that's going to be right now or not.”

Would Lang be a good signing for Leeds?

Lang, who has previously been described as a "phenomenon" by journalist Peter Vandenbempt may feel that now is the time to make the step up into a top European league, having scored 31 goals and provided 29 assists in 102 appearances for Brugge since 2020, according to Transfermarkt.

The versatile forward has played on both wings as well as in the centre-forward position for the Belgian giants, suggesting that he could be a useful option for Marsch across his front three.

The Dutchman’s Sofascore stats show that he has a scoring frequency of 239 minutes this season, whilst he has also created two assists and three big chances, emphasising that he could add some much-needed cutting edge to the Whites in the final third of the pitch.

Lang will be aware of the reported interest from the Premier League and Marsch will be imploring the Leeds hierarchy to move quickly on the six-time Netherlands international’s services to bolster his frontline ahead of what is likely to be a tense second half of the season.
