Manchester United star Donny van de Beek 'has to go and find a new club' after failing to make a positive impact at Old Trafford, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag could sanction incomings and outgoings after the winter window opened for business on Sunday.

Man United transfer news - Donny van de Beek

According to 90min, Manchester United have granted van de Beek permission to move onto pastures new during the early stages of 2023.

The report suggests the Netherlands international is likely to seal a loan exit and although Premier League clubs have shown an interest, a return to his homeland could be on the cards due to Ajax and PSV Eindhoven also being in the race for his signature.

Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi may offer van de Beek an alternative route out of Manchester United after identifying him as a potential option to bolster his midfield at the San Siro.

The likelihood of the 25-year-old leaving Old Trafford has increased after ten Hag revealed that a loan move could be beneficial.

Jones recently told GiveMeSport that van de Beek, along with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, is expected to seal a January exit.

What has Dean Jones said about van de Beek?

Jones believes van de Beek needs to rediscover his best form by departing Manchester United now that the winter window has opened for business.

The journalist feels the Dutchman has an abundance of talent, but the move to Old Trafford has not worked out.

Jones told GiveMeSport: "If he and ten Hag don't suit one another, van de Beek has to go and find a new club.

"He is at a really key stage of his career and is at an age where he should be thriving, but it's just not happening.

"It's a real shame because he's a good player, but the club just hasn't suited him."

Should Man United offload van de Beek in January?

Van de Beek has struggled to produce the kind of form he enjoyed at previous employers Ajax and racked up just four goal contributions in 58 Manchester United appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

That is a paltry amount, particularly considering the Red Devils parted with up to £40million as they brought him to the Premier League for the first time in his career.

It was hoped that the appointment of ten Hag would benefit van de Beek considering he found the back of the net 32 times while they were together at Ajax.

But an upturn in form has not come to fruition and the midfielder has struggled for game-time under his fellow countryman, having been restricted to just 240 minutes of action.

Van de Beek was only handed a 4/10 rating by the Manchester Evening News when the Red Devils were involved in a friendly against Cadiz ahead of the Premier League season's resumption, further emphasising that a move away could be best for all parties.
