Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Dutchman Cody Gakpo.

On Wednesday evening, the club announced the arrival of the 23-year-old.

Upon signing, Gakpo told the club's official website: “I feel really good, I’m really excited to be here. I’m looking forward to start training and start playing for this amazing club.

“I think this is a great club for me to come in and try to show what I can [do] and try to help the team to achieve more beautiful moments that they already did in the past years.

“I think for me personally it’s also good to develop here and there’s a lot of great players here [who] I can learn a lot of things from.”

It's reported that Gakpo will cost Liverpool an initial £35 million, while the total fee could rise to £44 million.

How much will Cody Gakpo earn at Liverpool?

It's also been reported by Football Insider that Gakpo will earn £120,000-per-week after signing a six-year deal.

A decent weekly wage but it certainly doesn't put him amongst the highest earners at Anfield.

In fact, according to Sportrac, there are 11 first-team players who will earn more than the new kid on the block.

  1. Mohamed Salah – £350,000-a-week

Wow. Salah is earning £130,000-a-week more than any other player at Liverpool!

The Egyptian agreed a new contract at the club in the summer, committing his long-term future to the Merseysiders. He hasn't exactly been in the most prolific form this campaign, scoring 16 goals in all competitions.

Meanwhile, there have also been doubts over the club's second-biggest earner, Virgil van Dijk, this season. The Dutchman is now 31 and many fans believe he's not quite the same defender as he was a couple of years ago.

Thiago is the third-highest earner at the club, earning £200,000 every week.

Four players pick up £180,000 with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino, Fabinho and Diogo Jota while Darwin Nunez earns just a few quid shy of that each week.

Alisson is on £150,00 per week with Jordan Henderson and James Milner £10,000 worse off every week.

Then comes Gakpo, who finds himself alongside midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita earning £120,000 per week.

At the age of 23, Gakpo knows he has every chance of increasing that weekly wage throughout his six-year deal with good performances.

And if what we saw at the World Cup in anything to go by, he'll be given improved terms before long.
