Leeds United 'might just put an enquiry in' for Southampton striker Che Adams, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Jesse Marsch is looking to strengthen the squad at Elland Road in the January transfer window, and Adams could now be an option in attack, if the Saints choose to bring in another striker themselves.

Leeds Transfer News - Che Adams

As per the Athletic, Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhuttl informed the striker that he was free to leave the club in the summer transfer window, with TEAMtalk claiming that he was a long-term interest of Leeds.

This stretches back as far as January 2020, with Hampshire Live reporting that the Whites failed in an attempt to sign the forward on loan at that stage, and now it appears as though they could be readying another approach.

Writing for the Athletic, Phil Hay indicated that the Scot could still be on Leeds' radar for the upcoming window, due to his previous links with the club, and Jones has now provided a new update.

What has Dean Jones said about Che Adams?

In an interview with GIVEMESPORT, Jones confirmed that Leeds may come to the table with an offer for Adams, but only if Southampton bring a forward to St Mary's:

"Southampton have got their own situation to consider at the moment, if they do go and sign another striker, you never know.

"They might just put an enquiry in just to see what can be done."

Would Che Adams be a good signing for Leeds?

The 26-year-old was lauded as being 'fantastic' by Hassenhuttl earlier this season, and while he did not score enough goals to prevent his previous manager from getting the sack, he still has a decent record for Southampton this term.

In 17 games, the former Birmingham City man has scored eight goals, just shy of one every other game, as per Transfermarkt, a good return, especially given the Saints' slow start to the season, currently bottom of the Premier League table.

In his last two full season in the Premier League, the forward has recorded more than ten goal contributions in each, as per Transfermarkt, displaying a good eye for goal with 82 goals in 305 professional appearances.

Scoring has not been an issue for the Whites this term, with their figure of 23 placing them in the top top ten for goals scored, but it would still be a boost for Marsch to have another proven Premier League goal-scorer within his ranks, and he should move swiftly to sign Adams if he becomes available.
