Pele was one of the greatest ever footballers to ever play the sport and we have picked our 10 best goals of all time.

Born and raised in Brazil, Pele spent two decades at Santos FC, the Brazilian club that would later produce Neymar Jr. Following two decades in Brazil, Pele spent two years in America at the New York Cosmos before retiring.

The football legend managed to lift three World Cups for Brazil and is still the only player to ever achieve this amazing feat.

Despite the fact that he retired in 1977, Pele is still considered the greatest of all time by many. The only modern footballer in the same argument is Lionel Messi. Pele sadly passed away on the 29th of December 2022.

What are Pele's top 5 greatest goals of all time?

Although records did not begin until the middle of Pele's career, it is believed that the Brazilian legend scored around 1279-1283 goals throughout his whole career.

With this in mind, it is somewhat hard to narrow it down to his greatest 10 goals; however, not all of his goals were filmed due to the era he played football in and it is sad that we cannot see every goal he ever scored.

5: UEFA International Cup Final - 1962 (Second Leg)

The Brazilian was only 21 years old at the time, but he managed to score a great goal following a mazy run in which he got past three defenders and then rebounded the ball home.

Goals like this show a lot of quality, and with the pitch as bad as it was in the 1960's, it is crazy that Pele managed to hold onto the ball in these situations.

4: That 'Famous' Bicycle Kick for NY Cosmos

Pele managed to score a few bicycle kicks in his time, but one sticks out the most and this is due to the fact that it was the best of the lost. This goal came whilst he was at the NY Cosmos and it is one of the greatest goals in their history. He scored it in 1976.

As you can see, the ball comes from a great height and it is crazy to see how easy he finds it to score the bicycle kick as it flies past the goalkeeper.

3: Brazil vs Sweden (1958 World Cup)

Pele was only 17 at the time; however, this apparently made no difference for him as he scored two goals in the World Cup final match vs Sweden. One of them showed pure class, and emphasises why he is so loved by many. You can see the goal at 16 seconds in this video by the Independent, alongside some of his other great goals.

To be able to have the nerve to simply flick it over a defender in the box to give himself more space is something few would be able to think of, let alone do.

2: Thunderous free-kick vs Romania - 1970

Pele could score a goal from any position and in so many different ways, and this smashing free kick shows he really had it all. The Brazilian thundered it past the Romanian goalkeeper who had no chance.

It is great to see so many great Pele goals, and it takes a true technician to be able to be world-class at set pieces.

1: Pele's amazing goal vs Juventus

Pele scored this goal in 1959 for Santos vs Juventus, and despite footage not being available, it was recreated by Pele, his rivals and his former teammates. This goal is so good that some still believe it might not have happened.

At just aged 18, Pele managed to juggle the ball about 30 yards and over multiple players before smashing it in the net - pure brilliance!
