Aston Villa transfer news - Arnaut Danjuma

Transfer insider Dean Jones recently told GMS that he can imagine Villa looking at Danjuma. At the same time, though, he feels there would need to be a big exit at Villa Park to facilitate his arrival.

The Netherlands international is unlikely to come cheap, with one Spanish source claiming that he has a €75M (£66m) release clause in his contract.

However, the same source claims that Villa may actually be able to get their target for €50m (£44m).

It is a lot of money but, having worked with him before, you can understand why Emery would want to bring the former Bournemouth man back to England.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about Arnaut Danjuma, Unai Emery and Aston Villa?

O'Rourke reckons Emery would be keen on a reunion with Danjuma and thinks the player would suit Villa well.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "Danjuma's got Premier League experience from his time at Bournemouth. I think he'd be a good fit for Aston Villa if they can get a deal agreed with Villarreal, so I'm sure he's definitely somebody Emery has got in his mind that he would love to bring to Villa Park."

Arnaut Danjuma's stats for Villarreal

Danjuma has really thrived at Villarreal since joining them from Bournemouth back in 2021.

In 49 appearances for the Spanish club, he has scored 21 goals, as per Transfermarkt. Six of those came in last season's Champions League, showing that he can play at a high level.

Indeed, Danjuma was not afraid to try and test the goalkeeper during the 2021/22 campaign, taking 2.7 shots per game in La Liga, according to WhoScored. For context, no Villarreal player recorded a higher average.

He also completed 1.4 dribbles a match, putting him in the top five for that category among his team-mates.

All in all, Danjuma is quite a confident forward, one that can be effective in the final third. The above does not necessarily mean Villa and Emery should go and spend over £40m on him. However, if the Spaniard is looking for some new attacking additions, then his former player is definitely someone worth considering.
