Celtic target Casper Tengstedt is ‘one of the names in the frame’ to replace Georgios Giakoumakis, journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.
Giakoumakis is expected to depart Parkhead in the January transfer window after negotiations over a new contract have reached an impasse due to his wage demands.
Celtic transfer news- Casper Tengstedt
Football Scotland recently revealed that Celtic are among a number of clubs keen on Rosenborg striker Tengstedt following his impressive exploits this season.
The 22-year-old only joined his current employers from AC Horsens over the summer but could be on the move once again this month.
It’s claimed that Rosenborg will demand at least £3.5 million for their prized asset, who still has three and a half years left to run on his existing contract and is supposedly not short of potential suitors.
Tengstedt is said to be viewed by Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou as an ideal heir to Giakoumakis should he seek pastures new.
The Greece international has been a success for the Hoops over the last 18 months, but with the attacker unhappy with the terms currently offered to him, an imminent exit may be on the cards.
What has Jones said about Tengstedt?
When asked by GMS if Tengstedt is a genuine option for Celtic, Jones disclosed that he is on Postecoglou’s radar, although he is also attracting attention from other clubs.

He said: “I think he's one of the names in the frame, but again, he's someone that's been talked about in terms of having potential in other countries too with some big clubs.
“So, the feeling is here that a lot is going to depend on the type of environment he sees himself fitting into for the next stage of his career. So, that might be key.”
Would Tengstedt be a good signing?
Tengstedt established himself as one of Danish football’s most prolific forwards last term, registering 30 goals and 15 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.
The 6 foot ace is yet to find the back of the net in his three outings this time around, though, but he does have one assist to his name.
Celtic would be buying potential as much as talent should they make a move for Tengstedt, and the former Denmark Under-21 international would fit into their business model.
Much is likely to depend on the future of Giakoumakis, yet Tengstedt appears to be a quality replacement should he depart the Glasgow giants.
