Tottenham Hotspur could find an attacking option in Olympique Lyonnais forward Tete during the January window, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT.

The Brazilian, who made his name at Shakhtar Donetsk, has netted 39 goals across 134 senior appearances.

What's the latest news involving Tete and Tottenham?

Having signed for Lyon in March of last year, Tete was granted the mid-season move after FIFA permitted players impacted by the Russia-Ukraine conflict to complete transfers outside of windows. Registering seven goal contributions in nine appearances for Lyon, the attacker impressed during his short stint with the mid-table outfit.

It was reported that Southampton had secured the services of the winger, with the move expected to be completed in the summer, after the Premier League blocked its clubs from signing players via FIFA's Russia-Ukraine scheme. Instead, it was Lyon who swooped in for Tete, but just months later, the Brazilian-born attacker could be on the move again.

As per 90min, Tete has been offered to Premier League clubs, with Newcastle United, Arsenal and Tottenham amongst those mooted to be interested. Jones recently told GIVEMESPORT that Spurs are prioritising a forward player in January, with summer signing Richarlison set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury while at the World Cup with Brazil.

What's Jones said about Tete and Tottenham?

Speaking to GMS, Jones admitted that Spurs were keen on Tete, but the north Londoners may only target him later in the window.

"Tete could be an option towards the back end of the window, he might offer some value," Jones told GMS.

"Other Spurs targets, like Harvey Barnes, I can't see them managing to get him in this window.

"Ismaila Sarr, Watford don't want to sell him. So none of those are particularly easy to do.

"But the toughest thing to consider is, are any of those players actually up to the level to make up for the absence of Dejan Kulusevski? It's really hard to guarantee that."

What would Tete offer Tottenham?

Having gained experience in the Champions League while at Shakhtar Donetsk, despite his tender age of 22, Tete already knows what it takes to perform on the biggest stage. A pacy winger, Tete would provide a touch of much-needed dynamism to a Spurs attack that has appeared stale at times this season.

As per Fbref, Tete ranks in the top 16% for dribbles completed, when compared to players in his position, suggesting a level of trickery absent from the Tottenham ranks. What's more, with nine goal contributions from 15 outings already this season, the forward could eventually prove a productive member of Conte's side.
