Chelsea have no intention of selling defender Levi Colwill, journalist Simon Phillips has informed GiveMeSport.

The 19-year-old is at Brighton for the season, but Phillips says the Blues still have plans for him and will not even consider another loan in the summer.

Latest news on Levi Colwill

Colwill's current manager Roberto De Zerbi recently told reporters that the youngster has "big potential" but has demanded more from him.

"Levi has big, big potential,” De Zerbi said to the Evening Standard and other outlets earlier this week.

"He's a good guy and I think he can play even better. I think he's playing at 60 per cent now. I want to give him more confidence."

Colwill joined Brighton last summer to get regular game time, with his parent club having brought in Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana in the same transfer window.

What has Simon Phillips said about Levi Colwill's Chelsea future?

Phillips has told GMS that Colwill still has a future at Stamford Bridge.

On the Chelsea academy product, the journalist said: "I'm told that Levi's still in the plans of Chelsea. Obviously, they've got this big emphasis on young players and building for the future, and with Colwill being young, Chelsea want him in the squad.

"He's one they have no plans on selling or loaning again. They want him to stay at Brighton for this season to develop because he still needs to develop."

Will Levi Colwill get game time at Chelsea next season?

If he does end up staying at Stamford Bridge, it certainly seems possible.

The Blues have signed another centre-back in Benoit Badiashile, which may come as a concern to those who are desperate to see Colwill make it in SW6.

However, Fofana is struggling to stay fit, while 38-year-old Thiago Silva is out of contract at the end of the campaign.

When you consider the above, there could be opportunities for Colwill, who Chelsea reportedly valued at £20m in the last transfer window.

If Graham Potter does feel he needs to add another centre-back to his squad in the summer, there is always a chance Chelsea just go out and buy one. But perhaps Colwill, described as a "talented" footballer by many, including Fabrizio Romano, could come in and end up saving Todd Boehly and his consortium millions of pounds that could be used elsewhere.
