Rangers’ interest in Royal Antwerp centre-back William Pacho “seems legit” as Michael Beale looks to bolster the Gers defence at Ibrox, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

The former Queens Park Rangers head coach is now experiencing his first transfer window as head coach of the Scottish giants.

Rangers transfer news – William Pacho

According to Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium, Pacho is a target for Rangers and Beale in the current transfer window, following a string of impressive performances for Royal Antwerp over the past few months.

At the age of 21, the centre-back could be seen as a young prospect who will only improve with game time and provide competition for Conor Goldson and Ben Davies in the Gers backline.

The Quinindé-born starlet has made 24 appearances for Antwerp this season, helping the side keep ten clean sheets and providing one assist, according to Transfermarkt.

But the journalist now believes that the club are “happy with the type of player” that Pacho is, and it now depends on whether the Premiership outfit will take the next step and pursue the 6 foot 1 colossus’ signature this month.

What has Jones said about Rangers and Pacho?

When asked about Rangers’ links to Pacho, Jones told GiveMeSport: “The scouting of him seems legit and they're happy with the type of player he is. Now we wait to find out whether they will take that next step in terms of trying to sign him.”

Who else could Rangers target this month?

Whilst the club mull over the prospect of signing Pacho this winter, Rangers have also been linked with many other possible targets this month.

Jones has recently told GiveMeSport that the Glasgow giants could make a move for Sunderland striker Ross Stewart, having entered the final six months of his contract at the Stadium of Light, with the Black Cats valuing the forward at as much as £10m.

Football League World reported back in December that the Gers were interested in QPR striker Lyndon Dykes, who worked with Beale during his short spell in charge at Loftus Road earlier this season.

When speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones revealed that the former Rangers assistant is “so keen” on bringing the 27-year-old back north of the border, with the striker having previously had a successful spell at Livingston.

Meanwhile, The Scottish Sun has claimed that Standard Liège midfielder Nicolas Raskin has been banished from training with the Belgian club, following the 21-year-old’s refusal to sign a new deal at the club amid interest from Rangers and other clubs from the continent, potentially raising the chances of a move to Ibrox this winter.

Therefore, with Beale likely eager to want to stamp his authority on the team, this could prove to be a busy month for the Gers, who will be focusing on rebuilding the squad in a bid to transform the side into Premiership title challengers again.
