The Royal Rumble, one of WWE’s biggest pay-per-views of the year and the first one of 2023, is just around the corner. And fans are already anticipating who might be in the main event that night. For those of you who have never seen it live, the pay-per-view got its name from the headline matches in the men’s and women’s divisions.Thirty wrestlers enter the ring at intervals, with competitors attempting to throw others over the top rope to eliminate them. The last man and woman standing in their respective events then go on to challenge for a championship of their choosing at WrestleMania. But the best part of Rumble is undoubtedly the returns that come with it. From stars returning from injury to legends of wrestling returning to the ring. Over the years we have seen the likes of Edge return after retiring years before, John Cena coming back to a monstrous pop and the debut of the ‘phenomenal’ AJ Styles. And with the release of this year’s Royal Rumble poster last night, fans have spotted a few features that might signal the return of one of WWE’s biggest Superstars ever.

Is The Rock returning at the Royal Rumble?

The Rumble poster was released yesterday, with some of WWE’s current stars featured on the print.

The likes of Brock Lesnar, Kevin Owens, Becky Lynch, Charlotte and Roman Reigns are all clear to see, but the feature that has fans the most excited is the electricity in the background.

Fans believe that the background could signal the return of “The Most Electrifying Man in all of Sports Entertainment” The Rock.

The star has not appeared on WWE television since October 2019 when he made an appearance on SmackDown, and also retired from wrestling in August of that same year.

But that has not stopped fans from speculating that the now 50-year-old could return to face his cousin Reigns for the WWE Championship in 2023.

One thing is for sure, though, if fans are right and he does return, it will be the loudest pop of the whole year.

"Definitely means The Rock is returning," "Rock’s winning the Rumble 100%," "Rock's 100% winning now," "The Rock definitely is returning here" and "Hmmmm… Looks very…. Electrifying" were all some comments made in reaction to seeing the poster.

Is Cody Rhodes returning at the Royal Rumble?

Although he did not feature on the poster when it was first released, injured star Cody Rhodes was then added to an updated version later on.

Rhodes has been out of action since June 2020 when he damaged his pectoral muscle in the build-up to his Hell In A Cell match against Seth Rollins. He required surgery and has been out ever since.

However, his addition to the poster might indicate to fans that he is set to enter the Rumble, or that he will participate in the event in one form or another.

Fans will only have a short wait to find out who might be in the event, though, with the Royal Rumble set for Saturday 28th later this month.
