Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has nominated tennis world number one Iga  Świątek for the Przegląd Sportowy, or Polish Sports Personality of the Year award.

According to reports from Poland, the 34-year-old has put forward a trio of names for the 2022 award, including the three-time Grand Slam champion.

Lewandowski also nominated three-time world champion motorcycle racer Bartosz Zmarzlik, and Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny.

Lewandowski has won the Polish SPOTY award three time during his career. His first came in 2015, followed by back-to-back wins in 2020 and 2021.

With more than 500 career goals for club and country, seven Bundesliga Golden Boots to go with his ten titles, and countless individual awards including consecutive Ballon d'Or Striker of the Year honours, he is one of the greatest Polish athletes in history.

But this year we could see a new winner crowned when the results are announced.

Świątek enjoyed a run of complete dominance during the 2022 WTA Tour and stands a strong chance of scooping the Sports Personality of the Year award.

Her first tournament win of 2022 came in February at the Qatar Open, and less than a week later, she became the new world number one following the retirement of Ash Barty.

Since then, Świątek has looked unstoppable.

The two shared a wholesome moment after the match when Świątek eventually noticed he was in the crowd.
