Aston Villa transfer news - Gerard Deulofeu

According to the MailOnline, Emery wants to bring Deulofeu back to the Premier League.

The former Everton and Watford star played 28 times under Emery at Sevilla, as per Transfermarkt, so he is someone who the Villa manager is familiar with.

Regarding how much he could cost, the same MailOnline report claims Udinese wanted £17m for him back in the summer.

However, with Deulofeu's contract up at the end of the season, the Italian club may not be able to get that fee for him.

What has Ryan Taylor said about Gerard Deulofeu and Aston Villa?

Taylor has informed GMS that Villa do have an interest in Deulofeu and thinks he is a player who possesses quality.

On the Midlands club and the Spaniard, the Daily Express journalist said: "Gerard Deulofeu is definitely one where there is interest. He's done it in the Premier League before with Everton and Watford.

"Although he seems to bounce around clubs, I think Deulofeu is a player that is always going to have that quality. He's a very direct winger with a decent end product."

Would Gerard Deulofeu be a good signing for Aston Villa?

He could be a terrific addition to Villa's squad. As Taylor mentioned, Deulofeu has already proven that he can deliver in the Premier League.

Back in the 2018/19 season, the Spain international came up with an impressive 15 goal contributions in 30 top-flight appearances (also via Transfermarkt).

Deulofeu has impressed at Udinese as well since moving there, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists in 34 Serie A outings last term.

Ultimately, the ex-Barcelona man can be quite an effective winger, so Emery's interest in his former player is hardly a shock.

With his contract up in the summer, Deulofeu may not actually cost too much money this month. If he fancies coming back to England, from Villa's perspective, signing him seems like a bit of a no-brainer.

Under Emery, the Villans' results have improved, with the 51-year-old guiding his side to victories against the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham. If he manages to bring a player of Deulofeu's quality to Villa Park, things could get even better.
