Crystal Palace may opt not to make any permanent signings in the January window 'for a lot of money' owing to 'noises' coming out of the club, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

The Eagles have been linked with several players so far this month, though none of them have come to fruition as Patrick Vieira continues to put his stamp on the Selhurst Park outfit.

Crystal Palace transfer news

Recently, The Sun reported that Crystal Palace are in the race to land Aston Villa striker Danny Ings either on a loan deal or for a bargain fee.

Everton are also said to be keen on taking him to Goodison Park on a similar basis, though the Londoners could have an edge in the pursuit due to their stable Premier League position.

Meanwhile, Palace have also discussed the possibility of Aaron Wan-Bissaka rejoining the club on loan from Manchester United according to The Athletic, showing that they could have designs on acquiring new players this window even if only on a temporary basis.

What has Jones said about Crystal Palace's transfer activity?

Talking to GiveMeSport, transfer insider Dean Jones thinks that it is unlikely that the Eagles will do any permanent business this month.

Jones told GMS: "The noises out of Crystal Palace suggests that signing someone permanently for a lot of money isn't really what they're looking at at the moment. So I'm not sure that the two are going to go hand in hand."

Do Crystal Palace need to make any January signings?

Realistically, January is a difficult month to do business, though many clubs fall into the trap of panic-buying players to plug holes in their squad.

Crystal Palace don't seem to have that problem, with boss Vieira in charge of an exciting crop of players that have navigated their way to just below mid-table in the Premier League at the current state of play.

Nevertheless, someone like Danny Ings moving to Selhurst Park could be a shrewd bit of business that would provide a natural focal point in attack. Despite limited game-time in 2022/23, the 30-year-old has managed to claim seven goals and two assists from 20 appearances at Aston Villa, as per Transfermarkt.

In amongst some fine creative talent such as Michael Olise, Wilfried Zaha and Eberechi Eze, someone of Ings' experience and quality could thrive if supplied with goalscoring opportunities.

Understandably, Crystal Palace may only want to delve into the market if a modest deal can be done. From the Eagles' point of view, there would be little point in splurging large sums of cash on players who risk not making a major impact in South East London upon arrival.

Waiting until the summer may be a more sensible approach once they have made sure of English top-flight survival. Then, former Arsenal man Vieira will have plenty of time to assess potential additions.
