Liverpool will travel to the Amex on Saturday to face Brighton in the Premier League, but Jules Breach doesn't see this as an opportunity for the Reds to get themselves back on track just yet.

While the former champions continue to stumble their way through the season, Roberto De Zerbi's side are in blistering goalscoring form right now.

They enter the clash off the back of a 5-1 mauling over Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, while Liverpool are still licking their wounds following a defeat to Brentford and a draw against Wolves.

After the reverse fixture saw Brighton hold Liverpool to a 3-3 draw at Anfield, the Seagulls look to pose a serious threat to Jurgen Klopp's men this weekend.

Breach believes with Liverpool's ongoing injury crisis and their troublesome form since the World Cup, Brighton are on course to deliver another upset, but on an even bigger level.

Can Brighton upset Liverpool again?

"I'm hoping that this time round, Brighton can actually get the win, especially with the game being at home," Breach told GiveMeSport.

"It was De Zerbi's first match in charge when we played Liverpool at Anfield and it was an incredible first game to see what the manager's first thoughts were.

"And obviously Leandro Trossard scoring a hat-trick and us managing to come away with a point at Anfield was a brilliant result for us, especially how quickly the changes had to be made after Graham Potter left the club."

Brighton are currently eighth in the Premier League table, just one point behind Liverpool, who have drastically fallen away from front-runners Arsenal and Manchester City.

This season, the Reds have dropped valuable points to the likes of Everton, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Leeds. Their most recent outing in the league resulted in a 3-1 loss to Brentford.

"There's been mixed results for Liverpool since the return after the World Cup and Brighton have had some mixed results as well, but no team has scored more goals in the last six matches in the Premier League than De Zerbi's Brighton side," Breach continued.

Indeed, the Seagulls have netted 17 goals in their last six league fixtures. Their tally of 32 goals scored puts them up there as one of the clubs with the highest goal returns so far this season.

They have scored more than Manchester United, who are currently eight points ahead of them in the table in fourth place.

"I'm confident that with no Virgil van Dijk in the Liverpool team, Brighton are going to score goals. That's what we've seen under De Zerbi so far, so why not? Why can't we take all three points?"

Brighton on the rise

Last season, Brighton recorded their best ever Premier League finish.

With 51 points and a better goal difference than Wolves, the Seagulls edged their way into ninth and finished inside the top ten for the first time in their history.

Now, they already look on track to bettering last year's result, and will be hoping that a positive result against Liverpool will see them on their way to doing just that.

"I think as Brighton fans, we've seen this coming so I don't think that it's been a complete surprise for us to see us climbing the table," Breach reflected.

"It's been a bit of a rollercoaster season because we started so well under Graham Potter, and then I think it was all a bit of a shock to everyone when he left.

Chelsea's Potter sat in the Etihad Stadium.

"For him to be taken away and to take all the backroom staff with him to Chelsea, us losing one of our best players in Marc Cucurella, and losing our sporting director... there was a lot of change. And there was this moment of uncertainty of 'oh my goodness, where does this leave us?'

"But what's been so brilliant is the way that Brighton operate, and we're so lucky that we have an owner in Tony Bloom, who is a fan of the club and cares as much as all the other fans do.

"He always seems to have a plan in him and it always seems to work out, and I think this change has worked out better than most Brighton fans would have expected."

Breach predicted a 2-1 victory for Brighton on Saturday, which would see them leapfrog both Liverpool and Fulham in the league table.

But regardless of the result, she is confident Liverpool will "definitely get top six" at the end of the season, and are "still in the race for top four."

Brighton will host Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday, January 14th with a scheduled kick-off time for 15.00 GMT.
