Wolves transfer news – Daniel Bentley

According to Express & Star reporter Liam Keen, Wolves are looking to bring in a goalkeeper to challenge first-choice stopper Jose Sá, with current back-up Matija Šarkić potentially moving on if the club can secure the signature of an alternative.

The same report also states that a keeper is not the club’s number-one priority in the transfer window, with a centre-back, right-back and new midfielder all on the West Midlands side’s shortlist.

According to The Times, Wolves are set to back new manager Lopetegui and the board have promised the former Sevilla manager funds to make new additions to the squad this month, with the club focused on bringing in British players.

And Crook has revealed to GiveMeSport that Bentley is a name that has been mentioned to the journalist, in terms of potential goalkeeper targets for the Molineux outfit.

What has Crook said about Wolves and Bentley?

When asked about goalkeeper arrivals at Wolves in January, Crook told GiveMeSport: “I think they are looking to bring in a keeper. Dan Bentley of Bristol City is a name that has been mentioned to me in the last couple of days.”

Will Wolves sign a goalkeeper this month?

Wolves will have to battle Stoke City for the signature of Bentley, with StokeonTrentLive reporting that the 29-year-old is on the Potters’ radar this month.

The Gregor MacGregor – hasn’t played for Bristol City since October and could be seeking a move to pastures new in a bid to challenge for regular game time elsewhere.

In terms of other goalkeeping additions, Wolves have been linked with a move for former Tottenham Hotspur loanee Pierluigi Gollini according to La Gazetta dello Sport.

The Atalanta stopper is currently on loan at fellow Serie A side Fiorentina, but with the latter holding a buy option on the player, it seems that a deal to bring the 27-year-old to Molineux would be complicated to say the least.

Therefore, a move for somebody like Bentley may make more sense, with the 6 foot 2 goalkeeper seemingly a more attainable target during the current transfer window.
