Liverpool's pursuit of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo is 'definitely one to keep an eye on', Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has informed GIVEMESPORT.

The Reds have been linked with several midfielders over the course of the January transfer window, with the 21-year-old being one of the main names mentioned as Jurgen Klopp eyes reinforcements this month.

Liverpool Transfer News - Moises Caicedo

Last week, Sky Sports News reported that Liverpool were interested in bringing the Ecuadorian international to Anfield in light of his performances for his nation at the World Cup.

Chelsea are also believed to be 'keeping an eye' on his situation, while Brighton are aware of potential suitors owing to his consistent Premier League displays.

Things have taken another twist in the last couple of days, as Caicedo has fuelled speculation that he could be headed to Merseyside. The Liverpool Echo cites that the midfielder liked a post in Spanish on Twitter which translates to "Liverpool awaits you champion."

The English giants have also been linked with a swoop for Teun Koopmeiners, further demonstrating their desire to bring in more bodies in the middle of the park.

What has Dharmesh Sheth said about Moises Caicedo?

Journalist Sheth has talked up the possibility of Caicedo moving to Liverpool, though has his doubts about whether Brighton would be willing to sell to a Premier League rival in January due to their 'own ambitions'

Sheth told GMS: "It looks like the number one choice is Jude Bellingham, but there has been an interest in Moises Caicedo as well. That's definitely one to keep an eye on.

"I'm not sure if it would be in this transfer window or whether it will be in the summer because Brighton don't want to sell midseason, Brighton have got their own ambitions.

"Remember, they probably feel that they can get into the European places, which would be an incredible achievement for them this season, and Caicedo has actually spoken about that. Yes, we're playing very, very well. And we've got a chance of qualifying for Europe."

Would Moises Caicedo be a good signing for Liverpool?

Given that Liverpool has an ageing midfield, bringing in someone of Caicedo's ilk would freshen up the engine room and add some new intensity at Anfield in t.

In all competitions across 2022/23, the Santo Domingo-born enforcer has made 19 appearances, scoring once and claiming a solitary assist, as per Transfermarkt.

WhoScored has detailed that Caicedo has averaged around 2.9 tackles per Premier League match, demonstrating his ability to gain possession for his side. Ball circulation is also one of Caicedo's main strengths, as he has recorded an impressive 87.7% pass success rate at the heart of Brighton's midfield.

Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and James Milner are all over the age of 30, signifying it could be time to start planning for the future with younger signings such as Caicedo coming through the door at Anfield.

Nevertheless, any deal to bring the Brighton star in will not be cheap. The Sun claimed last month that it might cost any willing bidders as much as £70 million to land the sought-after talent.
