Liverpool have got names such as Sofyan Amrabat, Mikel Merino and Piotr Zieliński “on their list” as Jürgen Klopp looks to revamp his midfield at Anfield in 2023, journalist Rudy Galetti has told GiveMeSport.

The Reds currently have six players who will be out of contract this summer, four of whom play in the centre of midfield.

Liverpool transfer news – Midfielder

According to Foot Mercato, Fiorentina and Morocco midfielder Amrabat is ready to snub interest from both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur as he opts to make the move to Atlético Madrid, which will come as a blow to Reds manager Klopp.

This week, Galetti himself that both Real Sociedad’s Merino and Napoli’s Zieliński, who has a release clause of £95m, are also on the Premier League outfit’s shortlist.

On top of the club's reported interest of the La Liga and Serie A star, it is still widely reported that Liverpool's top transfer target for the summer is that of Borussia Dortmund and England star Jude Bellingham, who is currently valued in the region of £131m, as per The Athletic.

Meanwhile, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has told GiveMeSport that the Reds have a very good relationship with Jorge Mendes, agent of Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Nunes who could also make the move to Merseyside at the end of the season.

But Galetti believes that the aforementioned trio are all on Liverpool’s shortlist and the situation over the next steps in a potential deal for one of the three will become “clearer in the next few days.”

What has Galetti said about Liverpool?

Galetti told GiveMeSport: “There are other names on their list including Amrabat, Merino, and Zieliński. But especially these last two names are possible targets for the summer. In this case, the situation will be clearer in the next few days, so let’s wait.”

What business could Liverpool conduct in January?

With such a large proportion of midfielders out of contract at Liverpool next summer, it’s unsurprising that the club are linked with numerous moves for several players in the position, with the club possibly making more than one addition in the centre of the park in 2023.

Multiple players in different positions have also been linked with a move to Anfield ahead of the remaining weeks of the transfer window, with RB Leipzig and Croatia centre-back Joško Gvardiol being one.

Speaking to RTL Danas, the 20-year-old claimed last week that a switch to Anfield would be his dream move, having watched the Reds with his father when he was younger.

Meanwhile, Calciomercato in Italy has claimed that Liverpool are leading the race to sign Napoli and Mexico winger Hirving Lozano, with the club aiming to sign the speedster following their signing of Cody Gakpo at the end of December.

Therefore, it looks like there could be huge changes on the pitch in the transfer windows of 2023, with Klopp potentially having a rebuilding job on his hands come the beginning of next season.
