Leeds United "will keep an eye on" Wolves star Adama Traore's situation ahead of a potential move to Elland Road, Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT.

Jesse Marsch's side have already completed a club-record deal for Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter, but could be on the market for some more opportunities before the close of the January transfer window.

Leeds Transfer News - Adama Traore

Leeds have a long-standing interest in Traore, with the winger having been signed by the Whites' current director of football, Victor Orta, while he was in the job at Middlesbrough.

Now, more recently, TEAMtalk have claimed that the club are still very keen on bringing the Spain international to Elland Road, and that Orta "has never given up on his desire to be reunited with him".

The report added that Traore himself is "keen on staying in the Premier League".

What did Jones say about Leeds' move for Traore?

He said: "In terms of Adama Traore, it's looking to me that he'll probably see out the rest of the season at Wolves and take things from there. But I think both Leeds and Tottenham will keep an eye on his situation just in case Wolves do make signings this month that impacts him.

"The feeling at the moment is that he'll stay but again, that can change."

Leeds could take a gamble on Adama Traore at Elland Road

While Leeds may be interested in Traore for a long time now, whether he is the man to help the club take that next step remains to be seen - in fact, his goal record at Wolves certainly suggests it would be a major gamble.

As per Transfermarkt, he has just 31 goal contributions in 175 games across all competitions - hardly the kind of prolific or creative player that Leeds could do with to help turn things around.

But, Traore still has that explosive pace that makes him such a difficult opponent to stop, and the key perhaps is whether Marsch feels like he can unlock the best out of him.

Indeed, his former manager at Wolves, Bruno Lage, seemed to suggest that while he rated Traore, he needed to do more to really showcase his potential.

He said: "He’s the kind of player who, when you have the ball, can do something special. But I want more Adama during the game, not just when you have the ball. He needs to be there more time in the game."

Valued at £14m by Transfermarkt, Traore could reunite with Orta at Elland Road and give Marsch some added depth out wide.
