Manchester United are ‘watching’ Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Randal Kolo Muani, journalist Christian Falk, who has a column for CaughtOffside, has told GiveMeSport.

The Red Devils have brought in Wout Weghorst from Burnley on a six-month loan deal to replace Cristiano Ronaldo but may look for a more permanent solution in the summer.

French newspaper L’Equipe (via Sky Sports Germany) have reported that United want to snap Kolo Muani up following his impressive performances for both club and country this season.

It’s claimed that Erik ten Hag’s charges and are willing to pay up to €60 million (£53m) for the France international, although they may have to remain patient to make the deal happen.

Frankfurt’s sports director Markus Krösche has insisted that he ‘will not sell’ Kolo Muani this January after only signing him from Ligue 1 outfit Nantes on a free transfer six months ago.

French outlet FootMercato have also stated that both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are interested in securing the 24-year-old’s signature, meaning he could find himself at the centre of a fiercely contested transfer tussle.

What has Falk said about Kolo Muani?

Falk has disclosed that Kolo Muani is on United’s radar but that Frankfurt wouldn’t even sell him for €100 million (£88m) this month.

In an interview with GMS, he said: “They're watching him, of course, but it's not concrete now.

“They have a solution now with Weghorst, and then they have to see, but Frankfurt said they won’t sell him in this winter, €100 million won’t be enough. So, you can now see how much they could like in the summer for him.”

How has Muani been playing this season?

Kolo Muani found the back of the net on eight occasions in his first 23 appearances for Frankfurt prior to the World Cup, setting up 11 further strikes for his teammates.

The versatile forward then starred for Les Bleus at the showpiece event in Qatar, racking up two goal contributions in just three outings during the tournament.

While Kolo Muani has predominantly been used as a striker throughout his senior career, he is also capable of lining up on the right-wing to good effect.

United manager Erik ten Hag may find Kolo Muani’s versatility a particularly appealing asset as he looks to continue his ongoing revolution in the red half of Manchester.
