Crystal Palace have ‘no other option’ but to be active in the final weeks of the transfer window, Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has told GiveMeSport.

The Eagles are yet to sign a single player so far this January and have been struggling for form of late, highlighting their need to bring in some reinforcements before the end of the month.

Crystal Palace transfer news – January

Palace manager Patrick Vieira revealed the capital club have ‘identified’ their targets for the winter window but that it is a ‘difficult’ and ‘complicated’ time to get deals done.

“This is a really difficult window to find those players who can improve the squad,” Vieira said. “We have identified the names of those players that we wanted. Now everything is in the hands of the football club to try and make it happen.

“But at the same time, it’s not an easy one, it’s a really complicated, difficult one. We are working hard to try to bring in those players.”

The south London outfit have around two weeks to try and attract their targets to the club, and Vieira will surely be desperate for the hierarchy to back him financially.

What has Taylor said about Crystal Palace?

Taylor believes that Palace will be ‘active’ in the market this month and that right-back and midfield are areas of the pitch that need to be improved.

He said: “I expect Palace to be active between now and the end of the window, I think they’ve got no other option because they're losing a lot of players at the end of the season.

“And right-back is definitely an area that is in need of something; I think midfield as well.”

Who could Crystal Palace sign?

The Athletic revealed in the final days of the summer transfer window that both the Eagles and West Ham saw approaches for Aaron Wan-Bissaka rejected by Manchester United as it would have been too late to bring in a replacement.

Yet transfer guru Fabrizio Romano stated last month that both clubs, alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers, ‘remain interested’ in snapping up the right-back.

Meanwhile, The Sun have claimed that Palace will make one final attempt to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher on a permanent basis following his successful loan spell last season.

Simon Phillips has previously informed GMS that a return to Selhurst Park would be the England international’s preference should he admit defeat in his Blues career, and that Palace would take him back in a ‘heartbeat’.
