Leeds United star Jack Harrison's days at Elland Road may be numbered as he has attracted interest from European giants Atalanta and Ajax, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport.

Whites boss Jesse Marsch sealed the club-record signing of Georginio Rutter for up to £36million last week, but he could sanction further incomings and outgoings ahead of the January transfer window slamming shut.

Leeds transfer news - Jack Harrison

According to Football.London, Harrison could be the perfect option for Arsenal as they seek an alternative option to Mykhailo Mudryk following his £88.5million move to Chelsea.

The report suggests Gunners boss Mikel Arteta knows the Leeds talisman well, having worked with him while at Manchester City, and his ability to play on either flank may be attractive.

Newcastle United have been admirers of Harrison in recent months and failed with two bids during the summer transfer window before opting against meeting his £35million price tag.

The Magpies went into 2023 with the 26-year-old still on their shortlist of targets, while Eredivisie giants Ajax have also been suitors.

Harrison has entered the final 18 months of his £60,000-per-week contract at Leeds, leading to uncertainty over his long-term future.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Harrison?

Jacobs understands that Harrison has worked his way onto the radar of Serie A side Atalanta ahead of the final stages of the transfer window.

The journalist is aware that Ajax's interest is refusing to go away after they initially mulled over whether to lure the wide-man away from Yorkshire last year.

Jacobs told GiveMeSport: "I know that there are clubs who he is still on the radar for.

"In particular, away from Arsenal, there are even a couple of European teams that are looking as well.

"Atalanta are one of them and I'm also told that Ajax have been keeping tabs on him since the summer."

Should Leeds sell Harrison this month?

Harrison has registered more than 50 goal contributions over the course of his Leeds career, according to Transfermarkt, so it would be a huge mistake if Marsch sanctioned his departure.

The former New York City FC man has only found the back of the net once and racked up a further four assists this season, but his exploits last term should not be forgotten.

Harrison played a pivotal role in Leeds staving off relegation from the Premier League as Raphinha was the only teammate to get his name on the scoresheet more often.

Despite his profligacy, Harrison has still been putting in some impressive performances and only Pascal Struijk, Rodrigo and Rasmus Kristensen have been handed a better average match rating by WhoScored in Premier League encounters since the campaign got underway.

Discussions have been ongoing over a new long-term contract for a prolonged period of time, but Leeds may have to seriously consider cashing in if he refuses to put pen-to-paper ahead of the transfer deadline.
