Chelsea transfer news - Hakim Ziyech and Ruben Loftus-Cheek

The Telegraph recently reported that Newcastle are interested in signing Ziyech and Loftus-Cheek as they try to give their chances of qualifying for the Champions League a boost.

The same outlet has also claimed that the Magpies are looking at the Chelsea pair's team-mate Conor Gallagher.

While Ziyech is starting to get a bit more game time at Stamford Bridge, it would not be a shock to see him leave west London this month.

Chelsea have just brought in three new attackers in Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix and Noni Madueke, which is likely to push the Moroccan further down the pecking order.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Hakim Ziyech, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Chelsea?

Romano has told GMS that Ziyech and Loftus-Cheek, who are valued at around £39m combined by Transfermarkt, are currently being eyed by other clubs.

On the Chelsea duo, the Italian journalist said: "Hakim Ziyech and Loftus-Cheek, they're receiving a lot of interest. For Chelsea, it's crucial to understand who they want to sell and then how to proceed with new signings."

Who is more likely to leave Chelsea, Hakim Ziyech or Ruben Loftus-Cheek?

Probably Ziyech. As already mentioned, the 29-year-old faces fierce competition for a spot in Graham Potter's starting XI, especially when everyone is fit.

Journalist Simon Phillips has also told GMS that Ziyech wants to leave Stamford Bridge, which is more than understandable. His start in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Saturday was only his fourth in the Premier League this season, as per Transfermarkt.

At this moment in time, Potter may be reluctant to let Loftus-Cheek go, too. The former Brighton manager has a lot of problems in midfield, with N'Golo Kante's absence due to injury arguably the biggest.

Unless someone who can play in the engine room comes in, he probably cannot afford to start letting players in that part of the pitch leave.

All things considered, then, out of Ziyech and Loftus-Cheek, who earn £250,000 a week combined, according to Salary Sport, the former looks the more likely to depart this month.

It has been a crazy transfer window so far, though, with Chelsea's capture of Mudryk proving that. Therefore, you would not rule anything out.
