Arsenal are keen to offer youngster Charlie Patino an improved contract at the Emirates Stadium, as they see him as a 'really important' player for years to come, Fabrizio Romano has informed GIVEMESPORT.

The 19-year-old is highly rated in north London and has shone in the Sky Bet Championship with Blackpool since joining on loan last summer.

Arsenal Transfer News - Charlie Patino

Last month, The Daily Mail revealed that Arsenal had decided to trigger a two-year extension to Patino's contract, which was previously set to expire at the end of 2022/23.

The playmaker had previously attracted interest from several clubs in England and further afield, with Barcelona said to have been looking to prize Patino away from the Gunners in favour of a move to La Liga.

Cadena Ser has previously reported that Patino is eligible to feature for both England and Spain internationally. Despite turning out for English underage sides, La Roja has been working for months behind the scenes to try and convince him to play for Spain due to his father being a Galician with a Spanish passport.

Patino has received high praise from former Blackpool boss Michael Appleton in the past, who labelled him as "outstanding" following a 0-0 draw against Sunderland.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Charlie Patino?

Transfer insider Romano has stated that the London Colney graduate is a player Arsenal sees as a future star while also saying that the Gunners are looking to offer him a new contract to reflect their belief in his potential.

Romano told GMS: "They want to extend the contract of Charlie Patino. They triggered the extension on his contract, but they are convinced he is a player for the future, so they want to offer him a new deal.

"This contract situation at Arsenal is a really important one in the Emirates."

Does Charlie Patino have a big future at Arsenal?

Training for the first time with the senior Arsenal squad at just 16 years old, it is fair to say there has been a belief within circles at the Emirates for some time that Patino possesses the talent to become a first-team regular for the Gunners.

He already made his competitive debut for Arsenal last season against Sunderland in the EFL Cup, netting a dream goal in a 5-1 win. Patino has since moved on to Blackpool, earning regular minutes to continue his development.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a fine 2022/23 campaign for the Seasiders, netting two goals and laying on two assists in 23 matches across all competitions, as per Transfermarkt. WhoScored also details that the loanee has made an average of 1.9 tackles per match, showing that he is capable of producing tenacity on the pitch.

Arsenal should look to seal a new contract for Patino and provide a pathway for him to gain opportunities with their senior side frequently before too long.
