Manchester United will 'monitor' the Eredivisie market as they seek to do more deals in the January window, Fabrizio Romano has told GIVEMESPORT.

Erik Ten Hag has already swooped to bring in two new faces this month, with Wout Weghorst and Jack Butland joining on loan until the end of the season.

Man Utd Transfer News - Erik ten Hag

Last week, The Sun reported that Ten Hag had instructed his scouts to create a detailed dossier on several players who ply their trade in the Eredivisie.

The Red Devils boss is keen to lower the age profile of his side and focus on up-and-coming stars, with the top flight in his homeland being a significant target area he wants to exploit - talented Ajax trio Jurrien Timber, Devyne Rensch and Kenneth Taylor have all been earmarked as prospective additions.

Furthermore, it is said that Swedish AZ Alkmaar winger Jesper Karlsson is on his radar alongside PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joey Veerman, who are both a few years senior at 24.

In his time at Old Trafford, Ten Hag has worked with Donny van de Beek, Tyrell Malacia and Weghorst, who all have some form of Eredivisie connection. Lisandro Martinez and Antony were also acquired from Ajax last summer and so it seems a fruitful market for the United manager to explore.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about these latest developments?

Romano believes that United will 'monitor' the Eredivisie market, however, doubts whether the club will do too much business with the likes of Ajax due to the Red Devils already signing Van de Beek, Martinez and Antony in recent years.

Romano told GMS: "It would be particular to see a club signing three or four players from the same club in the space of one year. So I think it could be from other clubs, but I'm sure that United will monitor that market [Dutch]."

Would the Eredivisie be a good place to continue shopping for Manchester United?

Undoubtedly, the Eredivisie has been a market that has served Manchester United well in recent times, with not only recent additions but also signings of the past coming from the Dutch top division to make an impact at Old Trafford.

Club icons such as Jaap Stam, Park Ji-Sung and Ruud Van Nistelrooy were all brought in straight from the Eredivisie in years gone by and will be warmly remembered by supporters.

Players such as Daley Blind, Memphis Depay and Van de Beek however may have endured less successful spells at the club; however, that shouldn't deter Manchester United from doing business in a league that is highly renowned for harbouring talent.

Ten Hag will continue to plough on with his search for potential new arrivals. On the evidence presented in his tenure so far, you'd have to say he's been a pretty good judge of character when it comes to making savvy choices in the transfer market.
