Chelsea transfer news - Conor Gallagher

Sky Sports recently reported that Crystal Palace are one of a number of top-flight sides who want Gallagher.

It comes as no surprise after the Englishman's successful loan spell at Selhurst Park last season.

As per Transfermarkt, Gallagher made 39 appearances for Patrick Vieira's team in total, scoring eight goals along the way.

If Chelsea do decide to sell Gallagher, The Athletic's David Ornstein has suggested that he could cost around £40m.

What has Simon Phillips said about Conor Gallagher and Chelsea?

Phillips has informed GMS that Gallagher does not want to leave Chelsea this month.

On the England international, the journalist said: "I've heard this week that he has reiterated his intentions to those around him. He absolutely wants to stay at Chelsea.

"That's always been his main goal, and he would only leave Chelsea if he wasn't getting game time there, if he wasn't playing regularly."

How has Conor Gallagher performed at Chelsea this season?

It has been a bit of a mixed campaign for Gallagher at Chelsea following his return from Palace.

He was sent off in a 2-1 win against Leicester City at the start of the season before going on to score the winner versus Vieira's team a few games later.

Looking at his campaign overall, Gallagher probably has not made the sort of impact that he was hoping to make, with the former Palace loanee yet to add to that strike at Selhurst Park.

Nevertheless, he has got minutes in Chelsea's recent fixtures, partly because of the ongoing injury crisis at Stamford Bridge, and surely fulfilled a dream when he made his Champions League debut earlier in the season. So it has not been all doom and gloom for the midfielder.

There are obviously still a lot of games left this term as well, so Gallagher, who has been described as a "special player" by one football analyst, should get more opportunities to show what he is really capable of.

For Chelsea as a whole, it has not exactly been a season to remember. But perhaps things will improve for Graham Potter's side later down the line.
