Fernando Alonso embarks on his 21st Formula 1 season this year with Aston Martin and it looks as though his reactions are as sharp as ever.

The Spaniard's first year in the sport came all the way back in 2001 and, when you consider Oscar Piastri, who is making his debut this coming season, was born that year, you can get an idea of the longevity of Alonso's career and just how much dedication and commitment he has put in to making the very most out of his talents.

Of course, there's an argument to say he should have won even more in Formula 1 than he has but that is a debate for another time, and there's no denying his talent and skill looks to still be at the levels it has been at throughout his career.

As mentioned, Alonso embarks on a new chapter this season in F1 with Aston Martin and he'll be hoping that their stated aim of becoming championship contenders by 2025 remains on course, because that should mean this year is another one of progress towards the front of the grid.

Many want to see Fernando out in front battling with the likes of Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and old rival Lewis Hamilton because there's a genuine belief he's still absolutely got what it takes to win races providing the car he is in is good enough.

It remains to be seen what the AMR23 that Aston produce is like, then, with it due to launch on February 13th, but it's clear Fernando has kept himself in top shape both physically and mentally over the off-season ahead of another busy year on the grid.

The reactions of an F1 driver need to be impeccable given the speed at which they drive and how important even a tenth of a second can be in terms of winning and losing.

Fernando has clearly lost none of his reflexes, then, and plenty of F1 fans will be hoping we'll see the very best of him again next season.
