West Ham United are "likely" to sack David Moyes if there isn't an immediate turnaround in results, journalist Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT.

The Hammers have spent most of the campaign hovering above the Premier League relegation zone and Jones believes the end could be near for Moyes at West Ham.

West Ham United manager news - David Moyes

Having been appointed for a second time in December 2019, few could imagine how successful Moyes would go on to be as West Ham boss.

Initially brought back to save West Ham from relegation in the 2019/20 campaign, Moyes would go on to guide the Hammers to a sixth-place finish in the following season, qualifying for the Europa League in the process.

Having successfully negotiated a tricky group containing Dinamo Zagreb, Rapid Vienna and Genk, West Ham would go on to beat Sevilla and Olympique Lyonnais in the knockouts, before being paired against Eintracht Frankfurt at the semi-final stage.

It wasn't to be for the Hammers, who were knocked out by the Bundesliga side, but a seventh-place finish in the league would see West Ham qualify for Europe ahead of the current campaign, this time the Europa Conference League.

West Ham, now with ready-made experience for continental football, would once again top their group, with a last-16 tie awaiting the Premier League strugglers in mid-February.

However, as their form in the league continues to dwindle, it appears the man who guided West Ham on their magical European adventures might not be around to lead them into the Europa Conference League knockout stages.

A report in The Telegraph suggests Moyes could be sacked if West Ham don't win their crucial clash against Everton on Saturday afternoon, with some already suggesting the Hammers could struggle to appoint a suitable replacement.

What has Dean Jones said about Moyes?

Speaking in an interview with GMS, journalist Jones hinted Moyes could be shown the departure door, should the poor results continue.

"It’s very likely that he goes if they lost to Everton," Jones revealed to GMS.

"They obviously have to find that solution as to who would come in to fill his spot though.

"There aren’t as many managers out there as you think might be interested in a club like West Ham United.”

Who might replace Moyes at West Ham if he's sacked?

In the same Telegraph report, four names have been mooted as potential replacements for Moyes, should the 59-year-old be sacked this month.

Nuno Espirito Santo, Rafael Benitez and Sean Dyche, the report reads, have all been identified as managers with Premier League experience, who understand how to negotiate the tricky waters of a Premier League relegation battle.

Whereas Carlos Corberan, who was only appointed as West Bromwich Albion boss in October, is considered a long-term option for West Ham, should they wish to rebuild under a new boss.
