Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly struggling to land a personal chef to work inside his 'forever home' on the Portuguese Riviera.

The 37-year-old began the latest stage of his illustrious career on Thursday evening when he made his first appearance as a player in Saudi Arabia since joining Al-Nassr back in December.

In an ironic twist, his Saudi debut saw him share the pitch with eternal rival Lionel Messi as Paris Saint-Germain took on a Riyadh XI - captained by Ronaldo - at the King Fahd International Stadium.

Both men shone in the pulsating friendly encounter. Messi got the scoring underway for PSG after just three minutes, before Ronaldo sent the crowd wild eleven minutes prior to the break by converting a penalty to level matters.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner wasn't done there, though, as he netted his second of the match before half-time. Both himself and Messi were withdrawn just after the hour mark of the contest - which ended 5-4 to PSG - but all in attendance had more than had their money's worth by that point.

Ronaldo is expected to make his official debut for Al-Nassr when they take on Ettifaq FC on Sunday and will spend the next two-and-a-half years in the Gulf state after penning a massive £175m-a-year deal with the club.

While the player is contracted to work as an ambassador for Saudi Arabia beyond that point, he seemingly sees his long-term future back in his native Portugal.

Where is Cristiano Ronaldo's 'forever home'?

Per the Daily Mail, Ronaldo is currently in the process of building his 'forever home, having purchased a plot of land in Quinta da Marinha back in September 2021.

The superstar is said to have completely blown his £10m budget on the project, with estimates now putting the total cost of completion at around £17m.

When you're earning £175m over the course of 12 months, though, we're guessing that £7m 'overspend' doesn't exactly sting too badly!

Ronaldo is expected to move into the lavish property once it is finished in June - during the Saudi Pro League's close season.

With that in mind, recruitment has already started for the staff who will look after Ronaldo and his family once they relocate.

According to a report from respected Portuguese publication, Correio da Manha, the vacancy for a £4,800-a-month butler at Ronaldo's newest residence has already been filled.

However, the post as Ronaldo's personal chef remains open - and there's not been much interest.

Ronaldo and his long-term partner, Georgina Rodriguez, take their food seriously. The job specification apparently states that the successful applicant should be comfortable cooking 'traditional Portuguese food - as well as more international dishes like sushi'.

The couple are big fans of the Japanese delicacy - and have even had an entire area of their new property dedicated to its preparation. In addition to looking after the nutrition of Ronaldo and Rodriguez, the new chef will also be responsible for feeding the family's five children.

The opportunity to work for one of the greatest players of all time isn't exactly proving the draw that you might expect.

Likely to be a job with a significant time commitment, the £4,500-a-month (£54,000 per-year) salary hasn't attracted the calibre of candidates that the family expected.

With their 'move-in' date approaching fairly swiftly, the situation is said to be 'causing Ronaldo real headaches'.

What is Cristiano Ronaldo's favourite meal?

Assuming he can eventually find someone to whip up his favourite dishes, Ronaldo's chef can expect to be whipping up Bacalhau a Bras on a regular basis.

Ronaldo's mum, Dolores Aveiro, once revealed that the traditional Portuguese dish, comprised of salt cod, potatoes and eggs, is her son's favourite.

In the same interview, she also admitted that Ronaldo enjoys a pizza once a week, before "doing loads of sit-ups afterwards".
