Tom Brady has informed his Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammates of his decision about his future with the team, Ian Rapoport has reported.

The 2022 NFL season was certainly a strange one for both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady. On the surface it would seem like a pretty reasonable one, they claimed the NFC South title for the second time in two years, and Brady managed to finish 3rd in passing yards whilst leading the league in completions.

However, when you end the season with a losing record and losing by 17 points at home in the playoffs, you can make the argument that this was a season that the Bucs will want to forget as soon as possible and just look forward to what is going to happen in 2023.

The big question though, is what is the team going to look like when they eventually reconvene in the summer and put their plans together for next season, and will Brady be a part of them?

Tom Brady bidding goodbye to the Buccaneers?

The future of the 45-year-old is very much up in the air at the moment, and that reportedly comes from the man himself as claims back in December hinted that he was going to consider all options at the end of the season, and those options were; return to the Buccaneers, continue playing but with another team, or retire and move into broadcasting where he has a deal in place with FOX to work wth them.

Now that the season is over though, it seems as if one of those options is already off the table. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Brady has crossed the Buccaneers off his list of choices for 2023 as he reports:

Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady plans to take his time making a decision on his future, aiming to look at his options with a clear mind. Yet several players already have a feeling which direction he is leaning. Based on their final interactions with Brady, it felt to them as if Brady was leaving Tampa with no intention to return.

After a season in which the Buccaneers offered him little support, some of it their fault through a lack of a running game, some of it bad luck through a raft of injuries, it doesn’t seem a surprise that Brady doesn’t want to go through it all again.

Whether or not this means retiring, or if he intends to play for another team, it is still very early to tell, although we do know that there are a few teams around the league that have shown interest in him so this may well put them on alert ahead of the offseason.
