In fact, the situation was so dire that many believe a loss for either Everton or West Ham United in Saturday's meeting between the sides would spell the end for that side's head coach.

Both Lampard and David Moyes entered the match at London Stadium amidst the narrative that both of them were only one more defeat away from being handed their P45.

Nevertheless, for all the negativity which has been spiralling around Everton going into said match, Lampard did appear to be given a show of support from some of the club's fans.

What happened with Lampard and Everton fans?

That's because footage emerged on social media on Saturday that showed a couple of fans, one of which spoke with great passion, giving their full backing to Lampard.

For all the poor behaviour of a small minority of Everton fans in recent days, you've got to tip your hat to the recorded supporters for taking such a human, respectful and empathetic approach to their exchange with the Chelsea icon.

However, that didn't stop a lot of Twitter users from reading into Lampard's mannerisms and mood within the video, opining that he was clearly nervous for the big game in east London.

While that is of course to be expected, many onlookers only further inferred that Lampard was well and truly feeling the magnitude of the game and the potential repercussions of it.

Are they reading into something that isn't there or can we really tell a lot from Lampard in the clip?

Either way, it's nice to see a different and more positive side to football fan culture being given its time in the sun, because it goes without saying that not every individual lining the terraces is out for their manager's head.

Yes, Lampard has to accept a great deal of fault for the situation that Everton find themselves in right now, but we all know that the problems at Goodison Park are more deep-rooted than that.
