Manchester United “still have to decide internally” on Facundo Pellistri’s future at Old Trafford, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has told GiveMeSport.

The £20k-per-week winger still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract to run with the Erik ten Hag's Red Devils side.

Man Utd transfer news – Facundo Pellistri

Facundo’s agent, Edgardo Lasalvia, has recently told Sport 890 that United would like to keep Pellistri at the club, but the winger wants to be playing more games and therefore a move elsewhere in Europe could be an option.

“It’s clear to us that Manchester United want Facu Pellistri to stay at the club, one of the greatest in the world,” said Lasalvia. “However, we need him to play. There are many options in Europe for him.”

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has reported that La Liga outfit Valencia have made a fresh approach to take the 21-year-old on loan until the end of the season, but ten Hag is thought to want the starlet to stay at Old Trafford for the time being.

Romano has already told GiveMeSport that many clubs are interested in securing Pellistri’s signature and has now said that the Premier League outfit need to “decide internally” on what the immediate future holds for the Uruguayan.

What has Romano said about Man Utd and Pellistri?

Romano told GiveMeSport: “The point is that they still have to decide internally what they want to do with this boy, whether that’s extending his contract and letting him go out on loan or maybe if they want to keep the player and just discuss a deal for the future.”

How has Pellistri performed for Man Utd this season?

Pellistri – who has been described as “spectacular” by Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo – has finally been given a chance to showcase his qualities under ten Hag this season, albeit having been given just a singular opportunity.

The Montevideo-born starlet was substituted onto the pitch for the remaining six minutes of United’s 3-0 Carabao Cup quarter-final victory over Charlton Athletic last month and managed to provide an assist in the closing stages, as per Transfermarkt.

The ten-cap Uruguay international also played in all three of his nation’s World Cup fixtures as they crashed out at the group stage, but was unable to hit the back of the net or set up a goal for one of his teammates throughout the tournament, according to the same stats provider.

Therefore, the most logical conclusion seems to be that United could look to loan out the South American to a European side to give him a regular taste of senior continental football, before returning to Old Trafford when ten Hag will hope the youngster is ready to become part of his Red Devils squad.
