West Ham United still want to sign Lorient striker Terem Moffi despite having already added Danny Ings to their squad this month, Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has informed GiveMeSport.

The 23-year-old was being heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium before Ings' arrival there, and it appears that he is still very much a target for the Hammers.

West Ham transfer news - Terem Moffi

Earlier this month, talkSPORT reported that West Ham had made a £20m offer for Moffi.

However, according to the same outlet, Lorient are holding out for a £30m fee. Since then, the east London club have turned their attention to Ings.

As per BBC Sport, they signed the English striker from Aston Villa in a deal worth £15m. His arrival, though, does not seem to have ended their interest in Moffi.

West Ham bought Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo last summer and still have Michail Antonio on their books, but it looks like David Moyes is not completely satisfied with his forward options.

What has Ryan Taylor said about Terem Moffi and West Ham?

Taylor's understanding is that Moffi remains a target for West Ham despite the club signing Ings. The Daily Express journalist, however, says a move to east London is unlikely.

Speaking to GMS, he said: "I've been told categorically that West Ham are still going for Moffi even after signing Ings, which is interesting given they have Antonio and Scamacca, although Scamacca is out injured at the moment."

Terem Moffi's stats for Lorient

Moffi has been in good form for Lorient this season, scoring 12 goals in 18 Ligue 1 appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

In total, he has registered 35 times in 95 outings for the French club, which is not bad for a 23-year-old.

”Terem is a man of gold. It’s amazing the state of mind this player has. He ticks all the boxes of the high level player,” his former manager Christophe Pelissier told footballogue (via Pulse Sports) in 2021.

"I really pushed the club and the president saying that he was really the player who fit the style of play that I wanted to adopt."

Pelissier is clearly an admirer of Moffi, and it appears that Moyes is as well as he looks to bring the Nigerian to the London Stadium before the transfer window closes.

He will not be able to keep Moffi, Ings, Scamacca and Antonio all happy, though, so you suspect that there could be a departure in the forward area at West Ham this month.
