Newcastle United target Hakim Ziyech is believed to be a "gettable" option for Eddie Howe's side, transfer insider Dean Jones revealed to GIVEMESPORT.

Ziyech has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the January window, with Jones hinting Newcastle could be his next destination.

Newcastle United transfer news - Hakim Ziyech

Magpies boss Howe has drawn up a nine-man shortlist of targets in the winter window, with Ziyech one of the players Newcastle are said to be eyeing up, according to a Telegraph report.

Top flight experience is believed to be one of the prerequisites for Newcastle's January business, as the side from the North-East look to finish inside the European positions.

Ziyech is a player who certainly fits that bill, having notched up over 50 Premier League appearances since arriving at Chelsea for £33.3 million in the summer of 2020.

However, minutes for the Morocco international have been hard to come by this season, with the 29-year-old having started just four league matches so far.

The summer arrival of Raheem Sterling, coupled with the January purchases of Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke, have added to Chelsea's already inflated attacking options.

It's left players like Ziyech on the fringes of the squad, with a move away from west London being mooted in the final weeks of the window.

What has Dean Jones said about Ziyech to Newcastle?

Speaking in an interview with GMS, Jones reiterated Newcastle's interest in Ziyech, hinting a deal could be done in the January window.

On the winger, Jones claimed: "Obviously Hakim Ziyech is gettable.

“Some people I speak to at Newcastle and Chelsea believe that one has a chance.

"It will probably hinge on whether they do genuinely go for Anthony Gordon again, so we’ll have to see how interesting that one gets.”

Is Ziyech a better option for Newcastle than Anthony Gordon?

The most obvious distinction between Ziyech and Gordon is their age, with the latter some eight years younger than his Chelsea counterpart.

With age on his side, Gordon, who was subject to a £45 million from Chelsea in the summer, is expected to blossom into an accomplished Premier League footballer.

However, if reports that Howe is keen on experienced additions, it's clear Ziyech would be the more suitable option, having made over 300 more career appearances than the Everton forward (Transfermarkt).

With a remarkable Champions League finish within touching distance for Newcastle, their January business could prove crucial to their hopes this season, with Ziyech amongst the most astute signings currently available on the market and a player that PIF should look to bring in.
