Arsenal picked up yet another three points on Sunday afternoon as they defeated Manchester United at The Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were looking to restore their five-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the table.

And they did just that as they overcame Erik ten Hag's side in a hard-fought match.

It looked as if the game would end in a draw with the score level at 2-2 with a few minutes of normal time remaining.

But Arsenal kept pushing and Eddie Nketiah netted the winner for his side in the 89th minute, sending the home crowd wild.

Bukayo Saka makes history against Manchester United

Prior to the match, Bukayo Saka was informed by Sky Sports reporter Geoff Shreeves that he could become the third Arsenal player to score in three consecutive games against Man United.

"You've scored in your last two games against Manchester United. Only Thierry Henry and Freddie Ljungberg have scored in three consecutive games against Manchester United. Challenge accepted?" Shreeves told Saka.

Saka replied: "Challenge accepted! It would be a pleasure to be in the company of those two elites players and hopefully I can do it."

Saka was up to the challenge as he scored his side's second of the match in the 53rd minute.

The 21-year-old took aim from some 25 yards out and curled his effort into the bottom corner.

Shreeves interviewed Saka after the match and asked him about joining that illustrious list of players.

"How happy are you, having accepted that challenge to join that elite group of gentlemen, Thierry Henry and Freddie Ljungberg, to score three consecutive times against Manchester United?" Shreeves asked.

Saka's reply was brilliant.

“I’m happy I accepted the challenge [in my pre-match interview]! Hello Freddie, hello Thierry! I'm here!” He said with a beaming smile on his face.

Saka was conducting the interview alongside Eddie Nketiah and he had his teammate cracking up.

Bukayo Saka: Man Utd goal was the best of my career so far

Saka was elated after the match and said his goal was the best of his career so far.

"I can’t put it into words. We know how big this game is, the history between the two clubs, and also looking at the table, how big it would be if we won this. We managed to do it, so you could see from the celebrations how much it meant to everyone," he said, per Arsenal's official website.

"I think today we showed we can play at another level. We can play when there’s pressure on us. I think it’s the earliest time this season we’ve gone behind and we fought back, and even until the end, we kept going until the last minute, and got the breakthrough with Eddie. I’m so happy for him."

On his goal, he added: "It’s my best goal for sure. I don’t think any other goal can argue with this one, and for what it meant as well."
