Manchester United 'really want to secure' youngster Alejandro Garnacho on a new long-term contract at Old Trafford, transfer insider Dean Jones has informed GIVEMESPORT.

The 18-year-old has burst onto the scene this season, catching the eye of Red Devils boss Erik Ten Hag with some stellar performances.

Man Utd Contract News - Alejandro Garnacho

Lately, The Mirror reported that Manchester United had offered Garnacho the lengthiest contract ever to a player in their history, spanning eight years in total.

Despite having the bumper deal on the table, it is said that the Argentinian ace and his representatives are not willing to commit to anything beyond four years in length, while talks have also stalled due to wage concerns - indeed, The Daily Star had previously reported he could be set to earn around £50k-a-week with a new deal.

Nevertheless, Manchester United are relaxed about potential interest from elsewhere. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are keen on bringing the wonderkid back to his birthplace; however, the Red Devils' backroom team are working hard in the background to seal an agreement over his future.

There have been discussions between some of the hierarchy at Old Trafford about including a buy-out clause in his contract, which would be an unusual step for an elite Premier League club, though may increase the chances of Garnacho signing on the dotted line in Manchester.

What has Dean Jones said about Alejandro Garnacho?

Transfer insider Jones believes that Manchester United will not want to run the risk of losing a supremely talented youngster like Garnacho any time soon.

Jones told GMS: "This is the sort of talent you can't just ignore because you might not find it again. If you look at the type of money and the type of players that Chelsea have been buying recently, Garnacho isn't that far from being in that bracket of player right now.

"United, obviously, lost a potential £100 million asset in Greenwood already and to have Garnacho in a moment like this is something they really want to secure."

Should Manchester United look to tie down Garnacho long-term?

Enjoying a meteoric rise to prominence in the last year or so, it would definitely be wise for Manchester United to tie down Garnacho to a long-term deal as soon as possible to ward off interest from elsewhere.

The youngster has been electric at times when called upon for the Red Devils and will only grow in stature as a player with more senior involvement. In 2022/23, Garnacho has excelled in all competitions, bagging two goals and five assists from 17 appearances, as per Transfermarkt.

His eye for goal has also been there for all to see, with WhoScored noting that he has averaged 1.3 shots per match this term for Manchester United. Many bright talents have been unearthed at Old Trafford in years gone by and Garnacho seems to be another bright spark that could become a major asset in years to come.

In light of this, Manchester United should look to sign and seal the Argentine's contract as boss Ten Hag continues to build for the future.
