Rangers are ‘going to give it another push’ as they attempt to add Morgan Whittaker to Michael Beale’s squad at Ibrox, journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

The Gers have already snapped up Todd Cantwell from Norwich City during the winter transfer window and appear to be eager to make further additions before next week’s deadline.

Rangers transfer news – Morgan Whittaker

A report from the Scottish Sun earlier this month claimed that Rangers saw an opening offer of £900,000 for Whittaker turned down by Swansea City.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano then stated that a second bid worth £1.5 million was also rebuffed by the Championship outfit, who are said to value the winger at £2 million.

Since then the Daily Record has disclosed that Rangers are set to make a third approach for Whittaker as Beale looks to mould his side in his image during his first transfer window at the helm.

Whittaker was recalled from a season-loan spell at Plymouth Argyle early after registering nine goals and seven assists in 25 League One appearances.

The 22-year-old could now be set for a permanent move away from the Liberty Stadium, but it remains to be seen if Rangers are willing to meet Swansea’s valuation.

What has Jones said about Whittaker?

Rangers already have the likes of Ianis Hagi, Scott Wright and Rabbi Matondo to call upon on the right-wing.

Yet Jones has disclosed to GMS that he believes the Glasgow giants are going to try and bring Whittaker to the club once more.

He said: “This would be a huge opportunity for him, and I think on the basis of that alone, you would say there's a chance. But also, I think that Rangers are still going to give it another push.”

Who else could Rangers sign?

Beale has recently admitted that Rangers are monitoring Nicolas Raskin’s situation at Standard Liege but that he is also ‘sure’ they will be far from the only potential suitors doing so.

"A player I remember a lot from the time we played Standard Liege (in October 2020 in the Europa League),” the 42-year-old tactician revealed.

"He is a player I am aware of, a very good player who is obviously out of contract in the summer and is attracting a lot of attention. There is an interest from us, but I am sure there is from a number of clubs."

Raskin, a central midfielder, is out of contract in six months’ time, and he could prove to be an astute acquisition for Rangers should he join Beale’s revolution.
