Liverpool should do all they can to strike a deal which would see Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham head to Anfield, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

Having already bolstered his squad with the £44million addition of Cody Gakpo, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp could welcome further reinforcements to Merseyside ahead of the fast-approaching January deadline.

Liverpool transfer news - Jude Bellingham

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Bellingham as he has no intention of signing a new contract with Dortmund.

The report suggests the Bundesliga giants have prepared an improved offer of fresh terms, but the central midfielder is not planning to remain at Signal Iduna Park.

Bellingham has been identified as Liverpool's top transfer target and the club have set their sights on luring him to Anfield during the summer.

Respected journalist Christian Falk recently told GiveMeSport that Klopp is 'fighting' for Fenway Sports Group to stump up the cash needed to seal the teenager's arrival.

Bellingham is valued at £150million and Liverpool are facing competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United.

What has Dean Jones said about Bellingham?

Jones believes Liverpool should go all-out to sign Bellingham after he shone during Dortmund's 4-3 victory over Augsburg on Sunday.

The journalist feels the England international showed he could offer Klopp something different to his current options.

When asked about the interest in Bellingham, Jones told GiveMeSport: "Liverpool should definitely push this hard.

"Bellingham had a great game at the weekend and he displayed, in that Dortmund win, so many of the traits that Liverpool are actually lacking right now."

How has Bellingham been performing this season?

Bellingham was the best player on the pitch as Dortmund came out on top in a seven-goal thriller against Augsburg on Sunday, with WhoScored handing him a 8.3 match rating.

Sofascore statistics show the 19-year-old got his name on the scoresheet, grabbed an assist, had 101 touches of the ball and won eight ground duels, emphasising that he played a crucial role as his current employers sealed all three points.

That took Bellingham's tally up to 14 goal contributions in 23 appearances since the campaign got underway.

He also shone during the World Cup, with ITV pundit Roy Keane saying, via MailOnline, the Liverpool target is 'going to be a superstar'.

With James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's respective contracts being due to expire in the summer, Liverpool ought to up the ante in their pursuit of Bellingham.
