Manchester United will get youngster Alejandro Garnacho to sign a new deal, journalist Steve Bates has told GiveMeSport.

The 18-year-old's current contract expires next summer, but Bates is confident that he will end up extending it.

Man United contract news - Alejandro Garnacho

Fabrizio Romano recently told GMS that conversations between United and Garnacho over a new deal have been "very positive".

The Manchester club will be desperate for their winger to put pen to paper on fresh terms because of his potential and how he has performed this season.

Garnacho has been able to chip in with a few goal contributions for Erik ten Hag's side in the Premier League, scoring once and providing two assists, as per Transfermarkt.

With time on his side, you would expect the teenager to only get better, so it really is easy to see why United are keen to keep hold of him beyond 2024.

What has Steve Bates said about Alejandro Garnacho and Man United?

Bates thinks United will get a new deal for Garnacho sorted and has hailed him as a "special talent".

Speaking to GMS, the football writer said: "This guy is a special talent. He's already been around the Argentina squad in terms of observing what happens at that level. I think a lot of the senior players, including [Lionel] Messi, have gone on record saying that he's definitely a player that is going to be a big player for them in the future, so United will want to tie him down.

"I think they will get the deal done simply because there are a lot of other clubs outside keeping a really close eye on what's going on."

How far can Alejandro Garnacho go in the game?

If this season is anything to go by, then very far. Garnacho is not an automatic starter at United yet, but when the Argentine has played, he has impressed.

It was the United academy graduate who, of course, set up Marcus Rashford's winning goal in the Manchester derby earlier this month after coming off the bench.

"He’s been good every time I’ve seen him," Red Devils legend Paul Scholes said on BT Sport (via Manchester Evening News) after the match. "I think he’s been a real threat. I thought he should have come on before Antony, who does have his strengths, don’t get me wrong. But this lad [Garnacho] is direct; he doesn’t care."

If United can get Garnacho to sign a new contract, which is starting to look likely, it will certainly come as good news to those at the club.
