Arsenal will be an attraction to West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and other top players in the world, Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has told GiveMeSport.

The 24-year-old is thought to be a key target for the Gunners, and Taylor now sees the Emirates as a viable destination for footballers of his quality.

Arsenal transfer news - Declan Rice

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently informed GMS that Arsenal have held internal discussions about signing Rice this summer.

West Ham, however, will not let their captain go so easily. According to one report from The Guardian, the Hammers are ready to demand at least £100m for him.

The Gunners could also face competition for Rice, who has been described as "sensational" by The Athletic's Adam Crafton, with the England international on Chelsea's radar, too.

With Arsenal currently competing for the Premier League title and set to make a return to the Champions League, though, there will be optimism that they can beat their London rivals to the player's signature.

What has Ryan Taylor said about Declan Rice and Arsenal?

Taylor thinks Arsenal and Edu are now in a position to land Rice and other footballers of his calibre.

Speaking to GMS, the Daily Express journalist said: "Someone like Rice, you'd never say Arsenal would be a competitor for his signature, but now, who wouldn't want to join Arsenal? And I'm including the top, top players in the world.

"You're coming to the Premier League right now, Arsenal are a huge attraction. They've got an unbelievable manager. They've got so much quality within their team. Players like [Martin] Odegaard are going to be real stars of world football, [Bukayo] Saka as well, [Gabriel] Martinelli."

Will Arsenal win the race for Declan Rice?

You would have to say that they have a really good chance. While Mikel Arteta's side are on course to secure Champions League qualification for next season, the same cannot be said about Chelsea, who are currently languishing down in 10th place.

As well as that, while the Blues do seem to be interested in Rice, he does not appear to be a priority for them at the moment.

According to The Athletic, they recently had a £55m bid for Moises Caicedo turned down by Brighton. While Chelsea continue to chase other midfield targets, Arsenal have an opportunity here to put themselves at the front of the queue for Rice if they are not there already.
