Fabrizio Romano provided a recent update on Garnacho’s contract situation on his YouTube channel, stating that United are ‘getting closer’ to reaching an agreement with the player.

“They are discussing the details of the proposal. So, it’s about the salary and length of the contract. Some things to clarify, but the discussion is very positive between Man United and Garnacho, with the expectation of the club is to have Garnacho as part of the future plans.”

The Argentina Under-20 international has established himself in manager Erik ten Hag’s first-team plans this season and appears to have an extremely promising career ahead of him.

What has Sheth said about Garnacho?

Sheth has told GMS that he believes United will be keen to extend Marcus Rashford and Garnacho’s terms following their impressive showings so far in 2022/23.

He said: “With Garnacho, I know he's very young, but he'll be on slightly lower wages, well, a whole lot lower wages, than the rest of the squad given his age.

“But I think they'll want to renegotiate that and put an extension on that contract as well. So, with those two, I think it looks very, very positive.”

How well has Garnacho been playing?

Garnacho has made a telling contribution to United’s success this term, registering two goals and five assists in 18 appearances across all competitions.

The South American’s outstanding displays have earned praise from Ten Hag as well, who has claimed the youngster has the ability to ‘compete at the highest level’.

“Garnacho can compete at the highest level. He has a skill that I don’t see many players in the Premier League having, he beats players one-on-one,” said the United boss.

Only time will tell if Garnacho commits his future to the club, but everyone associated with United will surely be hoping they can get this deal over the line.
