Manchester United duo Anthony Elanga and Facundo Pellestri could be 'allowed to leave' on loan this month if their prospective moves suited both the player and the club, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has informed GIVEMESPORT.

The pair have found first-team action hard to come by this season, leading to speculation over their future under Erik Ten Hag.

Man Utd transfer news - Elanga and Pellestri?

Earlier this window, The Daily Mail reported that Everton were chasing €25m (£22m-rated) Elanga on a loan deal, with the Sweden international growing increasingly frustrated at his bit-part role at Old Trafford.

Since then, The Daily Star has poured cold water over the possibility of Elanga pitching up at Goodison Park, saying that Red Devils boss Ten Hag is unwilling to let the 20-year-old move to the Toffees for the remainder of the season, given the predicament Everton find themselves in at present.

The Dutchman is said to have major reservations over how much the winger would progress on loan in Merseyside, potentially putting the move in jeopardy.

In the case of the €3m (£2.6m-rated) Pellestri, he has also attracted admirers, more so from further afield, with both Valencia and Flamengo having expressed a desire to take the Uruguayan on loan for the rest of this term.

What has Sheth said about the Manchester United pair?

Sky Sports journalist Sheth has said that Manchester United will only let Elanga and Pellestri depart on loan if it would be beneficial to their development as footballers.

Sheth told GMS: "Those two haven't really had that much first-team action under Eric Ten Hag. They would be allowed to leave if the right offer came for the club and the players' development because they want to send them to a club whereby Erik ten Hag and the coaching staff are happy with the way that that club plays football so that when they do come back to United, it won't be such an 'oh, we're going to be playing in a very, very different way'."

Should Erik Ten Hag allow Elanga and Pellestri to leave on loan?

With both players unlikely to get much chance to stake a claim for regular senior involvement this season, it may be wise to let Elanga and Pellestri move to an environment where they can gain regular time on the pitch.

Swedish talent Elanga has appeared 19 times in all competitions for the Red Devils, being mainly utilised as a substitute and has claimed two assists along the way, as per Transfermarkt.

On the other hand, Pellestri has featured just twice, with both games coming in the EFL Cup. On his senior debut for the Red Devils against Charlton Athletic in the quarter-final, the 21-year-old notched a late assist in a 3-0 win at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford, Antony, Anthony Martial, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho, when he returns, are all further ahead in the pecking order with Ten Hag at the helm, which will likely limit the chances of Elanga and Pellestri playing any real part in Manchester United's push for silverware this term.

Moving forward, both players should be granted a loan spell elsewhere to realise their potential.
